Privacy Policy

ReviewSnap ("ReviewSnap," "we," "us") is a private-beta tool that lets a business owner search for their Google Business Profile, select one of its existing Google reviews, and generate a styled image of that review for sharing on social media. This policy explains what data ReviewSnap touches, why, and where it's stored.

This policy describes the product as it actually functions today. If ReviewSnap's features change, this policy will be updated to match.

1. Information We Collect

a) Business and review data (via Google)

When you search for a business, ReviewSnap sends your search query to Google's Places API to populate suggestions, and — once you select a business — requests that business's name, overall rating, and up to a small number of its public 5-star reviews (including reviewer names as displayed publicly by Google).

• This data is public information about the business, sourced from Google — it is not something you submit to us, and it is not personal data we collect about you.
• Your search keystrokes are sent to our server, which proxies them to Google; we do not log or store your search terms.
• Business and review data may be held briefly in server-side cache (on the order of hours to a few days) purely to improve performance. This cache is not a database you or we can query, and it is not tied to any individual user or session.
• We never store exported review content, business names, or review text in our database — see Section 2.

b) A device identifier cookie (rs_uid)

ReviewSnap has no account or login system. To prevent abuse of the free tier (see Section 4), we set a cookie named rs_uid the first time you use the download or copy feature:

• It contains a randomly generated identifier, signed so we can verify it hasn't been tampered with.
• It does not contain your name, email, or any profile information — it exists solely so we can recognize a returning browser.
• It lasts approximately 2 years, is not readable by client-side scripts, and is only ever sent back to our own server.
• We do not use this cookie for advertising, analytics, or tracking you across other websites.

c) IP address

When you download or copy an exported image, our server reads your IP address for the sole purpose of computing a rate-limit check (Section 4). We do not log your raw IP address, use it for location lookups, or use it for any purpose beyond that check.

d) Usage records we actually store

We store a small record each time you download or copy an image, in a table used only for rate-limiting:

• A one-way (salted) hash of your rs_uid cookie
• A one-way (salted) hash of your IP address
• Whether the action was a "download" or a "copy"
• A timestamp

These hashes are one-directional — we do not store your actual cookie value or your actual IP address, only a scrambled version that lets us count events without retaining your literal identifiers. This table never contains business names, review content, or the exported image itself.

Retention: at this time, these hashed usage records are retained indefinitely — we do not currently run an automatic process to delete old records. Records older than our 30-day rate-limit window simply stop counting toward your usage cap; they are not yet automatically purged. We may implement automatic deletion in the future, and this policy will be updated if so.

e) The exported image

The image you generate is created on our server at the moment you request it and streamed directly to your browser. We do not keep a copy of it after your request completes. "Download" saves it to your device; "Copy Image" copies it to your device's clipboard. ReviewSnap retains no copy of any image you generate.

2. What We Don't Collect

• No account registration, no email, no password
• No advertising or analytics trackers (ReviewSnap's codebase does not include any third-party analytics or ad SDKs as of this policy's effective date)
• No stored copies of the reviews, business names, or exported images you generate
• No geolocation or precise location tracking

3. Third Parties (Subprocessors)

• Google (Places API): receives your search queries and selected place IDs so ReviewSnap can retrieve business and review data. Use of this data is also subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices. ReviewSnap is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Google — the "via Google" attribution shown on exported images is a requirement of Google's Places API terms, not a claim of partnership.
• Supabase: hosts the hashed usage-tracking table described in Section 1(d). Supabase does not receive or store review content, business data, or exported images — only the hashed identifiers and action metadata described above.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with any party for advertising purposes.

4. Why We Use This Data: Abuse Prevention

ReviewSnap's free tier limits how many images you can download and copy in a rolling 30-day period. The cookie, hashed IP, and usage-record table described above exist solely to enforce this limit fairly — including for users who might otherwise try to reset their usage by clearing cookies alone.

5. Cookies

The only cookie ReviewSnap sets is rs_uid, described in Section 1(b). We consider this a strictly necessary/functional cookie, as it exists only to enforce a core feature of the product (fair usage limits) rather than to track, profile, or advertise to you. Depending on where you're located, local law may require additional disclosures or consent mechanisms for this cookie — we encourage you to review your rights under your local privacy law.

6. Your Choices

• You can clear your browser cookies at any time, which will reset your rs_uid identifier (note that our IP-based check exists specifically to make this alone insufficient to bypass rate limits).
• Because ReviewSnap has no account system, there is no profile data tied to an identity for you to access, correct, or delete beyond the hashed usage record described above. If you'd like to request deletion of your hashed usage record, contact us at official.mxtp@gmail.com.

7. Children's Privacy

ReviewSnap is intended for use by business owners and their representatives and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as ReviewSnap's features change. We'll update the effective date above when we do.
